Lesedi has seen remarkable growth since its inception in 2014. It is amazing that we have survived all these years without a vehicle! Benson's old Hilux was used for a few years, but that vehicle has finally given up. A dedicated vehicle is needed for: Programme Delivery: Reliable transport is essential for administrative purposes and support for the primary school, secondary school, clinic and central administration. Emergency Response: A vehicle ensures timely access for emergencies and urgent community needs. Resource Mobilisation: Enables efficient transport of supplies, materials and equipment for income-generating projects. Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitates visits to partners, donors and government offices in Victoria Falls and beyond. The preferred option is a diesel powered Toyota Hiace Van (that can be converted to a minibus by adding seats). This vehicle specification would be ideal for LCP given that is a workhorse, tested and proven on the bad road network of Zimbabwe as it is the most reliable transporter. It will therefore be multipurpose as a people mover while also ensuring daily errands are done in a cost-effective manner. Key roles will include banking in times of need where reasonable cash amounts are involved, taking team members to external engagements, school activities (where not many learners are involved) and clinic activities such as community outreach. Please help us to reach our target! This investment is long overdue.  

After our pioneer students got their O-level results at the end of their Secondary education, several of them returned to Lesedi clutching their results slips and asking what they should do now. For most of these young adults, further education just isn’t an option without additional support. We were keen to offer some assistance, but mindful not to overstretch ourselves - either financially or in terms of manpower to monitor the support given. So we decided to establish a Further Education Fund in order to support some of our students to continue in education post Lesedi. Our priority in 2026 has been to assist some of our brightest students to study for A-level examinations. A maximum of three subjects are chosen to study at an advanced level over a two year period. A-level exams are a gateway to a degree or other tertiary education qualifications. Going forwards we may consider adding support for college courses, to enable our youngsters to learn a trade - subject of course to funding levels. Clearly we don’t want to divert donations away from supporting our core focus at Lesedi - or to be asking too much of our wonderful supporters. But this feels like a really important continuation of our valuable work.
